Press round up from last year’s Panto:
Times of London Thinking Theater NYC
Theatre Beyond Broadway Lavender After Dark
Are You a Pirate or a Lost Boy?
In this outrageously queer, adults-only British-style Panto, NYC Panto reimagines Peter Pan with a Frank-N-Furter-esque Captain Hook, a foul-mouthed Tinker Bell, drag queen Lady Chicken Cutlets, and a Neverland where growing up is optional and absolutely nothing is safe from satire.
Pop parodies, audience participation, slapstick mayhem, and brand-new original music fuel a wildly irreverent theatrical romp where fairy tales, politics, and the zeitgeist collide.
Bold and bawdy, pantomime, or Panto, has been a holiday tradition in Great Britain since 1717. With roots in Commedia dell'arte, the genre takes classic fairy tales and gives them a broad and comedic twist. While pantos are traditionally considered family-friendly entertainment, Peter Panto is strictly for grown-ups.
Because sometimes the best way to make sense of the world is to laugh at it.
The world's on fire. Come laugh with us anyway.
Performances run November 21- December 20
